Healthcare Professional Training Schools

Healthcare professional training combines the instruction taught in medical assisting with additional coursework that prepares the graduate for a management position in a medical office. Students take courses in medical administration and/or medical coding and billing to gain an understanding of medical treatment, as well as back and front office operations.

Medical Assistants help doctors with patient care, including taking histories and performing routine tests, removing sutures, and working in the lab. Medical Administrators are responsible for coordinating the activities of the doctor's office, including setting schedules, interacting with patients in the office and on the phone, and working with insurance. Medical coders and billers classify medical records according to accepted standards for submission to Medicare and insurance companies.

Graduates of these programs are well qualified to start a career in the allied healthcare field, including positions as administrative assistant, records coordinator, insurance and billing specialist, clinical assistant, or nursing assistant.
